Mosque Vandalized in Newark, Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - October 25, 2013 (WPVI) — Police are trying to track down the people who vandalized an Islamic mosque and school in Newark, Delaware.

Investigators believe it happened around 5:30 Friday morning.

Vandals went on a rampage at the entrance, destroying a fence, and two signs.

Someone also formed broken timbers from the fence into a cross. FBI agents later took the cross as evidence.

“We know very well what crosses mean, what nooses mean and what other messages of hate may look like,” said Naveed Baqir, Islamic Society of Delaware.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a hate crime. […]

The TV coverage was good.

‘At this point they know they are looking for one or more ignorant individuals.’

But the charges need to be upgraded. ‘Malicious mischief’?!? I got that for toilet papering a house. The property damage is significant, and the cross makes it a hate crime.

Imagine that. Erecting a cross in order to deliberately offend and threaten people. ‘Ignorant’ is too nice.

1. Note that the photographer appears to be a racist her/himself. At Wikipedia the username is listed as Freiindlich in the file history table, but the “author” name is also listed as “Confederate till Death” and “God Save the South” in the file info and file history table (comments). A Real American™, no doubt.

Until not too long ago there was a very visible KKK presence in Elkton, MD, not far from Newark. Sounds like familiar work from the leftover remnants of this filth.
